A representative from Sinopec participating in the themed dialogue stated that currently, a new round of energy revolution characterized by the large-scale development and utilization of clean energy is advancing deeply, and the global energy system is undergoing an unprecedented systemic and fundamental transformation. As a major energy enterprise, Sinopec regards green development as the only path to high-quality development. It actively implements a green and clean strategy, comprehensively promotes the purification of fossil energy, the scaling-up of clean energy, and the decarbonization of production processes. It accelerates the construction of a diversified, complementary, and synergistically efficient energy system, continuously advances the development of new energy businesses, and fosters the integration of new energy businesses with the green development of existing operations, as well as the integration of new energy businesses with new technologies and models.
In recent years, Sinopec has actively and steadily advanced its carbon peaking and carbon neutrality efforts, accelerated the building of low-carbon competitiveness, and led the green transformation of China's energy and chemical industry. On the foundation of comprehensively enhancing energy supply security, Sinopec vigorously promotes the low-carbon transition of traditional energy, resolutely acting as a driver of domestic oil and gas reserve and production growth, a leader in clean energy supply, and a key participant in international energy cooperation. It continuously strengthens its green energy supply capacity, builds a hydrogen production-storage-transportation-refueling industrial chain, expands application scenarios for clean energy such as photovoltaic power generation and geothermal energy, and establishes integrated "oil-gas-hydrogen-electricity-service" energy stations to achieve synergistic development between traditional oil and gas industries and new energy businesses. In 2024, its new energy supply equivalent exceeded 5.8 million tons of standard coal.
Sinopec has accelerated improvements in energy efficiency, strengthened the management of both energy consumption and carbon emissions, and ensured its carbon emission levels remain industry-leading. It has deepened carbon reduction and utilization efforts, actively developing CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage) businesses to contribute to China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. The company has also continuously improved its carbon asset management, exploring the establishment of a centralized carbon trading management mechanism and actively participating in transactions in the national carbon market, the national voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction market, and pilot carbon markets. It has ventured into green finance, launching its first carbon finance-specific loan products to drive green and low-carbon transformation.
Additionally, Sinopec co-initiated the establishment of the Energy and Chemical Industry Chain Carbon Footprint Alliance, vigorously promoting the precise accounting and application of carbon footprints in China's energy and chemical industry chain while enhancing international mutual recognition to drive supply chain decarbonization. In 2024, Sinopec was recognized as a "Pioneer" enterprise in China's industrial carbon peaking efforts.
